Rudder Pedal Assembly with Embedded Control Loader

Click for larger view. The rudder pedals are a self contained assembly that is common to all aircraft types. The entire pedal assembly adjusts vertically to the proper location for the specific aircraft configuration. Vertical adjustments are made similar to the seat angle adjustments. The number of the desired aircraft type is set on the pedal height adjust control panel and, with the flip of a switch, the pedals automatically move to the correct location. Embedded in the rudder pedal assembly is a computer controlled, electronic control loader that provides full programmability of pedal travel, resistance, and breakout forces to accurately match the specific aircraft configuration.

Virtual I/O

Click for larger view. Another key component of reconfigurability is the virtual input/output system, or Virtual I/O. The Virtual I/O system is a software interface that handles all I/O between the simulation host computer and the cockpit hardware. Each aircraft type has its own unique configuration file which defines the instruments contained in that particular aircraft. Switching between aircraft types is accomplished by simply loading the appropriate configuration file.

Click for larger view. The Virtual I/O is also a great test tool. It allows the user to test the cockpit hardware without having the simulation software running. It also allows for testing the simulation software without having the cockpit hardware connected. Any parameter handled by the Virtual I/O can be set to a user-defined value. Strip charts showing up to 6 different parameters can be display on the screen at one time for monitoring parameter values.
